Stephen Howes is the main chartered building surveyor of James Ross & Co Ltd with a degree in building surveying and over 30 years’ experience undertaking RICS HomeBuyer Reports and Building Surveys. For many years he worked in London refurbishing period and modern properties, gaining an in-depth knowledge of building defects and their significance. He was one of the first chartered building surveyors in the UK to obtain a postgraduate qualification in building conservation from Reading University.
