Chatham is one of the so called ‘Medway Towns’ on the banks of the river Medway, where towns such as Gillingham and Rochester all lie next to each other. A very popular place to live, the town has adapted over the years to remain a prosperous location. Although the dockyards closed down in the 80s, they are now the centre of a tourist hub and buildings like the Chatham Historic Dockyard Museum and the HMS Ocelot submarine are highlights of the tourism sector in the area. An attractive place to live, reallymoving has helped 290 people move into the area in the last year alone (up to June 2016).

The survey type for you will depend on a number of factors, such as the age, construction type and structural condition of the property. In Chatham there will be old buildings or buildings that have experienced past flooding from the Medway that may require a more thorough Building Survey to check for structural soundness, whilst other newer buildings may not need such an extensive report.

Recent research by the RICS has revealed that more than a fifth of home buyers who did not take out a survey now regret buying their property, so the cost of a Chartered Surveyor is relatively little considering the potential costs you could be paying down the road. Reallymoving will keep costs as low as they can be and also save you plenty of time choosing surveyors.
